On February 10, 2016, Joseph G. Patton was duly admitted and qualified to practice as an Attorney in the United States District Court for the Western District of Texas. This court convenes in San Antonio with divisions in Austin, Del Rio, El Paso, Midland, Pecos, and Waco. The Western District of Texas has jurisdiction over more than 50 Trans-Pecos, Permian Basin, and Hill Country Counties and serves more than 6 million residents.
The Honorable Judge Biery conducted the Swearing-In Ceremony and administered the Oath for Joseph Patton. The illustrious and storied Gerry Goldstein of Goldstein, Goldstein and Hilley sponsored Joseph Patton. At the conclusion of the ceremony, Mr. Patton placed is signature in the historical attorney roll book which dates back to 1879.
“It was an extraordinary experience. Being introduced to the federal courts by Judge Biery and sponsored by Gerry Goldstein was an honor and a privilege. When Judge Biery acknowledged my grandfather, Joseph W. Geary, during the ceremony it was difficult not to be overwhelmed with humility and emotion. Although my grandfather recently passed away, I could feel him in the courtroom with me during the ceremony. I truly felt as if I was standing on the shoulders of giants. My grandfather, Judge Biery, and Gerry Goldstein are all legends. I hope to honor their dedication to the practice of law as I move forward in my career.”
